Day Three- Belfast

Today was brought to you by my lovely bride Courtney!

Courtney works closely with Northern Ireland and totally hooked us up with the absolute best spots to see and the yummiest places to eat and drink in all of Belfast. If we didn’t have all of her good advice, we never would have had such a good time.

After a lovely two hour train ride north from Dublin to Belfast we hopped on a bus to the center of town to grab a bit to eat. Courtney recommended a great place called the Cloth Ear.

After a very tasty lunch, we took a “Black Taxi Tour” which was a great way to learn the complicated and quite tragic history of Northern Ireland. After the 90 minute tour of the city, we decided it was time to hit up some of the best pubs in town.

We loved the Crown Bar, but it was so packed that we headed next door to Fibber Magee’s. It was such a nice little place. After an Irish coffee to get warmed up, we had just enough time to tour the busy streets of Belfast. The Europa Hotel is quite beautiful place, even though it’s been bombed out so many times. The “Belfast Eye” was also very nice.

So THANK YOU SO MUCH to Courtney for sending countless e-mails to me about the great places to check out in Belfast!!!

And now we’re back in Dublin, getting geared up for our last full day in Ireland tomorrow- we’re headed to the Wicklow Mountains! So excited!

I LOVE these photos… It’s so funny- over Christmas break I began planning a trip to the UK (and Ireland) for 2009. I sent your link to them to get them pumped-up :) and LOVE the character seen through all of your photographs. You all look like you had a great time, and now we’re even more excited to get our trip together :) Thanks, and I hope you had a great holiday!
